Hello all

This tripawds site has been such a help for us coping with Bledsoe getting bone cancer, his subsequent amputation and now, finally, his passing.  Bledsoe passed yesterday morning, peacefully, at home, with his family by his side.  We learned Friday that his tumor reoccurence was much worse than thought -- first, it was enormous and very close to pressing on his trachea; second he had several new nodules on his lungs; and third, and worst, he had a massive tumor in his chest cavity, which was also causing his chest to fill with fluid.  Thus we made "the decision" before things got worse and before he began to have serious difficulties breathing (though unfortunately his breathing had already started to get labored).  We spent our last day and a half together doing lots of fun things -- 3 trips to the park to play with balls and his human brother; ice cream and chicken nuggets from McDonald's with a gift card from the Live Like Roo foundation; an early 8th birthday party (his birthday is not until October) and lots of snuggles, treats and bones.  We made a slideshow video of his last day (see below)... it's sad, but it was very therapeutic for us to make for him.  He was a smart, funny, athletic, sweet, sensitive, loving and loyal pup who we will all miss very much.

Anyway, this tripawds site has been such a help and all your words, comments, ideas, etc. have helped us give Bledsoe the best life on three legs for 8 months or so that he could have had.  Thank you.

Oh my heart breaks for you ..... I am so sorry for your loss of Bledsoe ... what a wonderful tribute to such a special dog! I love the family photos and how you made his last hours so incredibly special and even more loved than possible. You can totally see how loved and spoiled he was in each of those slides. I love his smooshy face!!!

The next days and weeks to come will be tough and we are all here for you!!! Because Bledsoe's earthly journey has ended ... you are part of our family now and forever!!!

You gave him the most selfless gift one can do for their furry friends and it looks like his last days / hours were magical!

Sending you love and comfort!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Stephen, our hearts are heavy today, we are so very sorry. Our condolences go out to you and the pack. We also can't thank you enough for donating to the foundation today. You are so kind to do that even while facing such heartache.

Bledsoe had such a great ride as a Tripawd and before that too. We're sad to know he is now an angel, but if it's any comfort at all, please know that you did the most kind and compassionate thing for him. He was so fortunate to have you for his people. Setting a spirit free is no easy task, but you made that call with courage and gave him the dignified farewell that every dog deserves. Wow.

Your handsome pup's spirit will stay strong in your heart, and in this community. Bledsoe will always be a part of us.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  This is such a hard part of the journey.  But know that you did everything possible, and he clearly had a great life and a wonderful home and pack!

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

I am so sorry to  hear about Bledsoe.  What a beautiful Boy & wonderful tribute to him.  I this part of the journey is hard.  No one can tell you when it will get better.  It is a journey that is each our own even though we have support.

Watch for his signs that he is ok.  He will give them to you
