Recently, my husband lost a friend and colleague to lung cancer.

The following poem was in her funeral announcement. Although, I'm not a particularly religious person, I found it very moving and ironically appropriate considering what we are going through with Tika.

I thought I would share it with all of you.

God Saw

God watched you as you suffered

And knew you'd had your share

He gently closed your weary eyes

And took you in His care

God has you in His keeping

We have you in our hearts

Your memory is our keepsake

With that we'll never part

God saw you getting tired

And a cure was not to be

He put His arm around you

And whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched you

And saw you fade away

Although we loved you dearly

We could not make you stay

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands now rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

What a wonderful poem...it made me cry (thats not too hard these days! We call it the crying disease!) and is very appropriate considering what we are all faced with at some point. Thanks so much for sharing...Im sure it will provide lots of comfort in the days to come.

A beautiful poem, and oh so appropriate for our friends, human or canine.  Thank you for sharing.
