Oh, no!  Sending love and very best thoughts in your direction for you and lovely Sheba!

Lisa, Minneapolis

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Thanks to everyone for their love and pawsitive energy!  Neuro consult revealed no neurological deficit.  He thinks we may need to bump up the antifungals.  We're getting an MRI tomorrow to determine the exact extent of the lesion and to determine if its safe to do a spinal tap.  the presence or absence of spores in the spinal fluid will give us another look at the big picture regarding how far the infection has spread.  will update after tomorrows MRI and we're getting another internal med consult as well.

Cynthia and Sheba

Right rear amputation 6/30/16 due to osteomyelitis of fungal origin (Aspergillus Penicillium).
Final diagnosis - systemic Aspergilosis Penicilliosis, being treated with long term itraconazole.
8/15/16 - Probable spinal involvement, loss of appetite, neurology consult in the works.

Goodness knows you are doing EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to ensure Sheba can heal! It sounds like the vets are being as proactive as possible too.

This reminds me of BUD, who beat MRSA against all odds and against all the dire prognosis of specialist. It was rough, really, really rough, but Bud prevailed and healed!

Glad you're getting an additional consult too. It seems every appointment offers another nugget of possibility.

Did they offer any recommendations to help Sheba eat, or any other ways to get nutrition in her? Is she drinking water okay?

Sending lots and lots of love

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

As for the eating, he said that's typical for German Shepherd to be picky, even more so when they're sick.  We're discontinuing the gabapentin and he thinks that will help
