I got to sleep in my own bed all night and he was loose in my bed room.  He moved around a bit but was not crying or whining. He hasnt had to wear a cone as he is leaves the incision alone.  Honestly if I put a coat on him you wouldnt know he just had surgery.

Well we went for a slow easy walk down at the water front here intown. He was carried for less the 5 mins as he kept wanting down again.  He also slept loose in my room last night with out needing me to be touching him at all times.  We may try being out in our regular crate tonight.  He seems happier now, calmer.  He wore a little coat on the walk to kinda cover the incision site and keep him warm.  He is now sleeping on his orthopedic memory foam fancy pants spoiled brat dog bed.

That's really cool. Coats are handy for keeping that shaved area warm. Very great news!

Hes a terrier they bounce back from most things.  We went and had the vet look at the incision today and its doing good.  Its just red and swollen more then I would like.  He ate a bunch of his favorite treats that he only gets at the vet clinic. Had a weigh in as thats our routine.  He definatly has me trained

Oh Quixote is just adorable!!!  I loved looking at his pics...yeah the 2nd one through me at first too.  After looking closer I realized it was blanket.

Glad to hear he's doing so well and he got a good report from the vet.  He'll get back to his normal personality with each day that passes.

To be honest you all keep saying that as he heals I will see more of the dog he was before the amp. but I dont think we ever got to see truely who he is as he was attacked at 4 months old and has lived in pain since.  Yes we did medications and the FHO but he was always in pain.  He is a different dog, still mommy's boy but not growly now.  He isnt as cranky or on edge now.  I can leave him home alone for a few hours with no seperation anxiety now.  He is more confident and less bossy.  I love him but I DONT want the dog I had, I want this dog the one I have.<img alt="" src="http://tripawds.....od/page-2/http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii312/shannalee_p/016d936e0c0c865a097875d322cdc941272c327e21.jpgImage Enlarger

" width="30" height="40" /> This was one of our many many many trips to the vet to try to get on meds that would take the pain away or book surgery or x rays /(this dog really should glow in the dark).  I actually believe this is the appointment where we booked the amputation.

I cant believe its already been a week. Quixote is doing fantastic he gets around great.  We were waiting for my daughter at her school today and a group of grade 1 students came over to pet him and ask questions.  Everyone gawks and thats taking awhile to get used to.  Its sad that I accepted the surgery and even forget he is three legged now, but cant handle people staring at him.

The staples come out Thursday or Friday, but we are putting new ones in right away I THINK. With the last surgery we did, we took the staples out and the incision came open.  It was very disturbing, there was no blood or anything but still. This time we are taking precautions against that happening.  We cant leave the staples in for longer then 14 days or something so we may just put new ones in right away and then leave them in for 14 days so he has the staples for a total of 20-24 days.

We are planning a trip to visit my grandfather, its a 12 hour drive away.  I hope the staples are all out by then

Sounds like has trouble healing? Good idea to take the precaution to add new staples.
