Hi all!

I an new to this site, and I am very happy that I came across it 🙂

Or 3 month old Jack Russel cross, Bruno, had a accident which led to a complicated fracture. We've decided that amputation will be the best option.

We are arranging his surgery for next week, so we will be the proud, new (and extremely nervous) pawrents of our little tripawd.

Would you please share any helpful tips or suggestions to ensure that we can take good care of our little pup? As I said, we are very nervous and afraid for this new challenge.

Hi Bruno and family, welcome. I'm sorry you had to join this club but we'll be here for you every step of the way.

Your first stop for help should be the Tripawds Start Here page . This will guide you to finding all of the resources in our community.

You'll also find that Jerry's Required Reading List and the Tripawds e-book Loving Life On Three Legs will be a big help as you start this journey.

My biggest piece of advice is to keep calm and set a strong example for Bruno. Our animals reflect our emotions so the stronger and more pawsitive you are, the more he will be too. Normalize your life together, don't baby him (I know it's hard) and you will be so surprised at how well he recovers and goes on to put all this behind him. Bruno will amaze you!

Stay tuned, others will chime in soon.

My boy tank lost his front leg and I didn't realise how well they can adapt to three legs i was devastated at first but I think I was more hurt than him because after a couple of weeks and less than 3 months later unless you can see he is missing a leg from the front you can't tell he runs jumps on and off the ute sits and shakes and your pup being so young will still be as much fun as a dog with all paws.tripawds will provide lots of info and support from a great community of people good luck with your pup.
