I'm so glad that Scout is doing so much better.  He's such a precious fella looking at his pictures.  You guys are in the home stretch of recovery now and things will start getting back to normal.

Can't wait to seem more pics of Scout!

Today is the first day Scout and his baby brother Rusty (not really a baby at 70 lbs) have been able to be together all day like everything is normal. I think Rusty is understanding more to take it easy as there has been no rough housing or inappropriate "activity" if you catch my drift lol. Tomorrow morning is Scouts appointment to remove the last staples and we will go from there. The only thing that worries me it the "intersection" of the y shaped inscision is still a little open. I will ask tomorrow morning but do you all think it is normal to have a little gap like that still? I am definetely not an expert on this!

No expert here either! But I would not worry in the least since you're going to the vet tomorrow anyway. No gunk oozing out, no stinky fluid...all should be good.

So glad Scout and Rusty got to jave some "normal" time together! It's such a "warm fuzzy" to see signs that life ks returning to normal! I bet Scout appreciates it too!

Any leads on the % #*#&% scum buckets garbage eating low lifes who did this?

Keep on keeping on Scout! We are all members kf your Fan Club!!

Hugs to all!

The police woman actually stopped by today to update me and give him a huge bag of dog food. She is an angel! They have a suspect officially! My husband actually ran into the witness who saw it happen and called it in and she gave a better description. On top of that several people in the neighborhood gave tips on what they saw. They are still putting together the evidence but it is all pointing to the same person and they're working to take him down!

Your law enforcement officer is an angel indeed!!  How touching that she came by to give Scout a bad of dog food!  I'm so glad to hear that they are continuing to work the case and they've narrowed down to a suspect.  Hopefully their investigation will be completed soon and your prosecuting attorney file a case against this piece of crap a--hole.

Please keep us posted on the progress of the criminal case...I'm sure we're all rooting for justice for Scout!!

Your precious boy has indeed touched the hearts of us here in this community!

TAKE HIM DOWN!! YOU ARE GOING DOWN!!!!! Wonderful news!!!

And really nice of the police officer to stop by! Talk about a dog touching lives...a Pittie dog at that....way to go Scout!!

I'm telling ya', this is newsworthy! I guarantee local tv stations would carry this! And I bet this is not the first time that scum bucket did something like this! And the pictures you have of Scout would just melt everybody's heart!

Three paws up to that police officer and the investigators and all the witnesses who stepped forward! And three paws up to you and Scout and hubby!!

Lots of hugs!

I will be sure to keep everyone updated on both Scout and the investigation :). He is doing so well I am so proud of him. He is not leaking at all and the little open part is healing closed so were getting there! They missed a few staples so we will have to take him back sometime this week but after that it's all about strengthening the legs he has left and protecting them from wear and tear.

I will also be faced with trimming his nails for the first time ever. which should be fun. He's very active and usually just wears them down when running on the sidewalk or patio but they're growing long from not being as active. Any tips on that would be great because I tried once when he was a puppy and he treated it like a game. He just kept running around and trying to "attack" the trimmers lol.

I will also post some newer pictures soon, just have to upload them to my computer!

Oh the joys of nail trimming...what-ever.  Neither Leland nor Lucian did well...although Lucian is way worse than Leland ever was.  With Leland as long as he was distracted by treats he did fair.  Lucian could careless about treats...he sees the nail clippers and it's game on getting him rounded up and laying down.  For Lucian it's definitely a 2 person job.  Hubby and I have found that cooked hotdogs is the only thing to keep him somewhat distracted (no doggie treats or cold lunch meat will do for him).  Hubby pretty much holds him by the chest area and shovels hotdogs in while I'm trying my best to clip the nails (while Lucian's pulling his leg away) as fast as I can without cutting to close.  We usually only get one foot done a night because we don't want to stress Lucian out more than he already is.  I know the nails are still longer than what I'd like but I figure as long as they're not clicking on the floor that's good enough...winker.

Good luck with Scout and the nail trimming.

More great progress. Yay!

For nail trimming look at it this way; you've got one less paw to trim! ;) Ok a little Tripawd humor there. But seriously.... We love using a Calming Cap for Wyatt. His feet phobia used to be really bad but ever since we started using the cap he doesn't need the muzzle any more. Here is a post about it:

I had no idea that covering a dog's eyes would be calming...much less that there was an actual product out there for that purpose.  Wow...one is always able to learn something new on Tripawds!!! big-grinbig-grinbig-grin

Yes, it's a simple but amazing product for dogs who are anxious. It doesn't work on all dogs but if it can work on crazy Wyatt Ray it can work on most I'll bet. We use it all the time, especially in the car so he doesn't bark his head off.

Haha glad you liked the pawsitivity Sally!

Those are some great tips I have to try. The vet missed a few staples all hidden in his flappy skin but we took him to get them removed today. All is going really good! He's getting back to his normal self and even tied me up in his leash and then tried to drag me around lol.
