Pup (We haven't officially agreed on a name for him yet) was born on 6/18/15 to a neighbor of mine, it is a long story but the important part is that I'll be getting the dam spayed (in exchange for their oldest son working for me) I'm helping them find homes for the other four puppies and I'll be fostering Pup until we can address his congenital birth defects and get him ready for a furever home. He's quite fascinating. His right paw was fused to his chest, resulting in Electrodactaly and as he developed it became clear that he also had Micropthalmia (his left eye is not present, or too small to fill the ocular cavity). He is also the only member of the litter to be born with a naturally docked tail. He has started to walk and play 'normally' with his litter, however his deformed paw is curled over. He has his first vet appointment this Thursday where I have asked for xrays to check the extent of the bone damage in his arm and to make sure his heart and lungs are developing well, as well as find out if there is an eye present in the socket and what to do about that. Pup has a long road ahead of him but I'm hoping to make it as easy as I can for him.

Ohhhhh thank you for helping this sweetie! We're so glad you joined us and will look forward to seeing how things goes. It's challenging when someone wants to learn more about Tripawds born with a birth defect like this, but Pup's story will now be here as a resource. We can't thank you enough.

Let us know if we can help in any way OK?

Wow! Ehat a "challenging" start for this sweet little pup!

And what a Saint you are for helping Pup have the best life ppssib@e, regardless of what the future holds. And know his Mom appreciates being spayed too!

So do you have Pup now in your care? I see he's eating on his own his just under four weeks. Is his mom still nursing him. Regardless, he has a perfect pawrent now!! Okay....foster lawrent!

We look forward to following the journey of Pup and sharing in the joy of a rich, love filled life he is about to have with you...as his foster! Could a failed foster be in the works....?

Thanks for all you are doing for this sweet little Soul.

Sending love to you and Pup!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

The dam is still nursing, however she has had trouble with her milk the whole time. Her owners are neighbors and friends of mine and I work for a mobile veterinary clinic. We didn't know that the dam had gotten pregnant until about week 8 of the pregnancy. She was skinny through the pregnancy and had only 6 puppies (one died at the vet hospital during birth, got stuck in the canal as a transverse). Her breasts did not swell until just days before she went into labor, her production was hit or miss and she herself went into hypocalcima when her milk finally came in more than just a trickle on day three. She's doing better now but nursing the puppies has taken a lot out of her so we chose to try to start them on mash early to help alleviate some of the strain on her body. The puppies took to the mash like fish to water and didn't need any assistance so now twice a day they are getting their fill of a mix of puppy kibble and can mixed with water until it's a soft and mushy paste. The dam seems to appreciate the break, specially with their little teeth coming in. Pup is staying with his litter for socialization and comfort since his dam didn't reject him. His siblings play and snuggle with him as if he were perfectly normal. His balance problems do give him a disadvantage during play but this seems to be shaping his personality into that of a more submissive and quiet pup. He's the runt, but I'm not sure that's not more to do with his disorders than anything else because he's first on the tit and last off the tit and same goes for the mash bowl, he seems to eat more than anyone else does. I come over as often as I can to help them take care of the puppies and the dam, and to play with all the puppies.

This little pupperz is so lucky to have you for a foster mom. Do you think you'll end up keeping him?
