I don't really know how these forums work. I need some help and information.
Barney who is 6 weeks post amputation and is next week going for his third round of chemos is suffering terrible with "super soaker" pooh. A couple of days ago we thought we had it under slight control but it seems to have flared up again. Our local vet who speaks to an oncologist in the States (we are in the UK) has gone on holiday and nobody at the vets seems to know what else we can do to help Barney. He has been on Salazopyrin 1000 mgs twice a day for 7 days. Today the locum vet said Barney should have another five days supply of these tablets but I think we need something else to help him.I would like to have his pooh normal before next weeks chemo. Can anyone help or advise me please? Chris.

Looks like you've figured out the forums perfectly! If you do not hear from tazziedog with a reply here (Pam is a vet), consider sending FearTheEars a Private Message. Just click your Inbox button above, and search for "fea" in the member list. With Travis Ray's issues lately, Ralph has become quite an expert on this topic. Just send him the link to this topic, and I'm sure he'll have some great advice for you. Good luck!
When Emily was having problems with diarrhea our vet had her take imodium, one tablet a day. It worked for her.

I usually use metronidazole for chemo-induced diarrhea. A probiotic like Fortiflora also helps as well as a bland diet such as chicken and rice or cottage cheese. You can also use Immodium but I would check with your vet first since this drug can sometimes react with other drugs or chemo.
