This is Lady- our "New" 10? yr old Dal. (In front)
Her ear flaps from base to tip are about 1/2 in thick and fixed in place like the flying nun (I just dated myself
)
They do not bother her and the Dal rescue did not know her background…… just wondering what causes this condition?

She's just lovely! I have no advice regarding the ears, but just wanted to welcome the lovely Lady! We hope she brings you great joy and tons of happiness to your pack! Best wishes to you all! xoxo Sue and Sammy
A friend of my mom does dalmation rescue in Cincinnati. I'll have her ask about it.
What is her name? She sure is a purdy girl!

OfflineWhat a very sweet looking girl! Congratulations!
I have seen dogs and some cats with thick ears (Ive worked in rescue for a while) that had physical trauma or infection in the past (or current).
Pats to both your kids,

OfflineWhat's a little thick ear flap when it comes to love! I got some thickness too! But Lady's is much cuter! Welcome Lady! We love you already!!!
Aw, Samson – is that you smiling in the background? I think it is!!!!
P.S. Angel Cometdog's daddy has a funky ear, we just call it his "funky ear".
Comet - 1999 to 2011She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
She probably had ear hematomas. After healing or surgery these often cause the cartilage to bend in funky ways. The hematoma is secondary to the dog scratching its ears or shaking the head usually due to infection or allergies. The scarring is not painful but keep a close eye out for redness, odor, or itching which might signal ongoing ear issues.
Pam
Thanks Pam- Ive had alot of dogs though out my years but never one with ears like Mr Potato head, like they are plastic and stuck on…oh well. I will keep an eye on them. THANKS!
Just wanted to say Dr Pam was "Spot On" as usual. (get it..dalmatian-spot
) Having just arrived home with her last night we just got her settled in and I really didn't look her over too closely. After I gave her a bath today I pulled back her ears and q-tipped them…..EEEWWWWW!
She has a massive ear infection in one ear. I have a vet appt set up for tomorrow. I'm not sure how I am going to get these ears dried out, they are so swollen that they are blocking the ear canal completely.
