If I know the calories needed, can't I determine how much of her current food that I can feed her daily?

She is currently eating canned Call of the Wild with some dry Call of the Wild.

Yes, once you know her maintenance requirements you can then cut back by 10 or 25 % for weight loss. If she seems hungry add green beans or carrots to help fill her up!
