This is Violet. We adopted her yesterday. She is a lab/pyrneese mix and is 2 months old. I was stalking my rescue websites yesterday after finding out Hunk was already adopted and I found her face staring at me. I called at 10am and by 8 pm she was home with us. The other dog in the picture is my neighbors dog that I am dog sitting. He is showing Violet the ropes. She loves him and us! I got to hold her the entire way home (1.5 hours of puppy all to myself!) and we bonded quickly. She slept in my room in a crate and would wake up, cry until she saw me and then plop back down and go to sleep. She knew her momma was there and she could go back to sleep. After I made the appointment to meet her I went to take a shower and just bawled my eyes out in the shower. Big, heart breaking sobs. I felt like I needed to let it out and let myself have a huge cry for my Lily. Violet will never replace Lily. She is just adding to our love in our family. My heart still aches for my Lily but Violet makes me laugh and her snuggles are awesome. So we are on to another chapter. I am excited to see what life has in store for us! If Lily has anything to say about it it will be full of hikes, tennis balls and swims! Thank you for all the support! PS- My sons wanted to name her Marshmallow so I compromised and said it could be her middle name (though you won't find me calling her that:) . We are sticking with the flower theme and calling her Violet. ;)

Congratulations! It must have felt like bringing a newborn home. I totally understand your tears for your Lily. Although Violet will bring you much happiness I'm sure you'll still have some tears for Lily and Violet will lick them away and make you laugh. Dogs are wonderful in that way.

Enjoy that little girl.

Violet is such a precious bundle of joy!!  Like you said Violet is not a replacement for Lily...Violet's job is to bring smiles back into a sad home.  And at 2 months old I have no doubt she has that task down beautifully!!

And it's ok to still cry over missing Lily.  It's good to let that emotion out and heck I got teary eyed over the weekend because I was missing my Leland.  I'm sure you will have many days to come where you'll shed a tear over your Lily but that's when Violet will step in with some crazy antic and bring a smile to your face.  Violet will help you and your family through the grief of losing Lily...just like all our precious furkids that have come along to help those of us here after a loss.

I'm so happy for you and your family with your new addition.  Lily knew you needed a little extra support through this time and what better way than with a youngster.

Hugs

Sahana and her Angel Leland

PS...keep posting pics of Violet.  I hope you stay connected here because we love watching new additions (4 legged as well) flourish in their new forever homes.

So happy for you! She is absolutely gorgeous. We are all looking forward to watching her grow up.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Awww what a cutie that Violet is.  As everyone said she doesn't replace Lily at all.  They help bring smiles and laughs back into our lives that our Angels would want us to have.  Our Angels don't want to see us sad they want us to be happy.  We will always miss them.

Heck there are still days that I cry over missing Sassy.  Lily knows you needed Violet.

congrats..  Give Violet lots of snuggles

Hugs

Awww a very very big congrats to you all! There is something magical when you make a connection like that. Lily knows you aren't trying to replace her, she brought little Violet to you to heal your broken heart and give the beautiful life you gave her to another soul who needs it most. That's really special.

We can't wait to meet her in Virginia! Hop on over to Tripawd Parties, you'll see our topic about the pawty on Memorial Day weekend. Also watch our news blog on Wednesday for an update.

Now, I must say there is something special snuggling with our furbabies in bed.  Don't let the size scare you from sharing your pillows with little Violet.  Hubby and I shared our queen size bed with Leland (108lb Dobie) since he was a pup.  Now once his legs got longer Leland started wanting more leg room and literally pushed hubby out of bed when he'd stretch his legs out.

So hubby got tired of constantly being kicked out of bed by Leland so what do we do....get a King size bed!  Lucian our 10 month old Dobie who was 96lbs at the beginning of March (he's probably pushing the 100lb mark now) is now sharing the bed with hubby and I.  There is something special being able to curl up and snuggle with your furbaby at night...aw-shucks

I'm just sayin!!

Gosh, we're in Annapolis too, with our Pyr mix tripawd Ellie (just introduced ourselves this weekend). Your Lily looks adorable. Good luck!

Denise.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

PUPPY BELLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  oh my dawg!!!!!!!  and spotted puppy bellies!!!!!!

needs snuggling....

needs puppy kisses......

and I want pictures of Violet sleeping on her back exposing that puppy belly for all to see!!!!

Congratulations....   welcome to the club called "I am destined to be trampled, covered in muddy paw prints, and soaked with slobbery kisses at the Rainbow Bridge"

You brought another fur kid into your home.. you have opened up another door and Violets pawprint is on it.. waiting to be filled with many, many memories and love over the many years you will have together!!!  Contratulations!!

This doesn't mean you have replaced Lily... if that was the case.. we all would have cloned our doggers and kitts and had the same gosh darn furkid for the rest of our life!  That would be an excellent option wouldn't it?  But... then where would Violet be?  And don't you think that Lily isn't standing up there by the bridge, looking down in the pool of crisp, clear, refreshing water and seeing your living room with Violet sleeping on the couch....   and I am sure she is boasting about how much she was involved in making sure that Violet made her way to your arms..   After all, Lily knows just how good Violet is going to have it.. and she is proud that she was able to help!!

now.. more pictures....

go get the camera!!

big-grin

Christine.....with Franklin in her heart♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

New additions to the family are always exciting.  So glad you found Violet and opened your heart to her.  You are so correct, she will NEVER replace Lily.  Our tripawds will forever live in that special place in our hearts. But she will reward your life in equally astounding ways.  Congratulations!

Oh my, look at the size of that paw , will ya! She is so adorable. We just got the bed sharing thing under control. For a 45 lb. dog, Daryl took over half the bed. He has to sleep in his chair until early AM. Then he can come in bed. Problem is, some of hisAMs are 3AM. Please!!! You have to come to the East coast Pawty. It isMemorial Day weekend,Saturday and Sunday. It has its own topic, but I am not tech savvy enough to post the link here. I want to pet that adorable puppy. And no, you are not replacing Lily. You are honoring the love you shared with her by opening your heart to another pup who needs you. Enjoy her, hugs, Lori, Ty & Gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
