Donna and Murphy's story is somewhat similar to ours. I put in an application to adopt a Lab/Flat coat Retriever cross. Without even meeting us, the woman from the rescue told me we were too old for that dog. The next week, up popped Ollie at a shelter near us. Best thing that could have happened.

It sounds as if you have the rescue on your side, and they (along with Otis and Tess) will be coming up with the best possible dog or dogs for you.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Gator arrives next weekend!  I am going to try to take a couple days off to get to know him.  So glad I don't have to personally pick up food spilled on the floor anymore.smiley

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

This makes me SO HAPPY,  Christine, for you and for Gator. I can't find a sufficiently ecstatic emoticon. I don't think there is one. Suffice to say the Megsta Pack is absolutely thrilled!!!

Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, 23 November 2023, adopted 12 January 2024.

Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...

I have some pics, but don't feel that I can post them until he gets here.  Kind of like it might jinx the process.  No backstory yet.

Wahoo how exciting!! Congratulations Christine 🙂 xxx Cant wait to meet him

Zuki Wuggafer 30/09/06 - 11/11/16. Right hind tripawd due to Osteosarcoma. He had a strong 5 and half months as a tripawd but unfortunately a secondary issue with his spine ended our battle. He loved life, loved our family and was the best dog I could ever ask for. Truly my first love, forever in my thoughts and heart.

Gator will be so lucky to be loved by amazing people like you and your daughter.  Everything crossed here that it all works out.  I too have been toying with getting a companion for Riley.  He still seems so down in the dumps here at home.  Have just heard about a 3 year old yellow lab who's mom was having health issues and now the dad has cancer and may be looking for someone to take their boy so we will see what happens there.  Never had a lab so this would be a new experience for me.  Looking forward to meeting Gator sounds like everything is falling into place for you!

I'm so excited for you, Christine!!  Gator is a lucky boy heart

I always hate when we're on vacation and drop something on the floor!  I look for Max to scoop it up laughing

So happy to hear this! I also understand the feeling of not wanting to jinx things; hopefully the week will fly by. Do the felines know their days as bloggers may be coming to an end? Or will they start their own blog? Congratulations on the happy news....like Sally said previously, we'd love to see that pic of Otis doing his gator impression.

Paula and Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

CONGRATS!!! We cannot wait to meet Gator!!!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Okay! You jave a full week to drop crumbs and scraps on the floor and leave them!!

Can you imagine Gator's thought bubble as he walks into his furever home and finds these goodies on the floor waiting for him?!

JACKPOT!!!!

LINDA! That's wonderful that Max and Ollie have picked out a pup in need of a loving home for you and Riley! The comfort and relief the family will have knowing he will be loved and cared for.....PRICELESSheart
