So here's a rum 'un. Every afternoon, Elsie, Meg and I play games. We usually do some core strength/physio work, often a treasure hunt and pretty much always a couple of rounds of a Nina Ottosson food puzzle game. The girls LOVE afternoon playtime, and if I don't break off from work on time, they make their feelings plain. The appearance of the Nina Ottosson games is the highlight of the whole affair and invariably has Elsie and Meg bouncing up and down in anticipation.

Well, this afternoon for the first time EVER, Meg refused to participate. She lay under the table watching with a mardy (British English, I know, but I'm sure the meaning is plain enough) expression on her face and point blank refused to come out.

Elsie was her usual enthusiastic self, so I set the games down and she proceeded to tackle hers with all her customary food-driven gusto.

Meg waited a bit longer, then out she came and, in what I can only describe as a tantrum, flipped the board over so all the plastic bones fell out. (She has never once done this before, and it is blatantly cheating)

Then she turned away and pointedly ignored me.

I don't think she is feeling unwell. She was absolutely fine on her walk, eating and everything else all fine. I think she is in a mardy mood because I left her for a week. I can honestly think of no other explanation.

Ha ha!!!! "Mardy" new word for my vocabulary so thank you!

I believe the same ... she is a pit peeved that you left her for a week to come to AMERICA and meet so many people and dogs ... she probably still senses you had 'cuddles' with others.

I recall when Shelby would "shun" me after travel. She would eat, walk, poop fine but when it came to nighttime snuggles and cuddles .. she would refuse to come near me. Shelby was the master of laying the guilt trip .. and boy oh boy did she have some "judging eyes'... especially after a late night out for me.

I do love her sweet little face though... oh Meg .. we sure wish you could have come as well! heart

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Yep, she sure is ignoring you.   I got the same reaction (well not with the games) when I got home.  I figured I would be jumped all over etc.  Snickers was more interested in my bag with no food in it.

That is quite the look too Ms Megastar 🙂

Meg, your mom missed you tons.  No more cheating.  I think ice cream is in order Clare.

Ohhh Meg!!! You never cease to amaze me with the way you express your emotions!!! You "voice" your opinions beautifully!! 🙂 🙂

I love that Elsie Pie is just continuing to enjoy herself regardless!! Nope, she's not gonna miss out on her fun time no matter how many trips you take!! 🙂

Could it be that adoravle Meg (extremely SMART and adoravle Meg) is just thoroughly bored with that game! Perhaps she needs something a bit more advanced now suited for the genius thst she is!

I love that you have this afternoon ritual. Sooooo sweet!! 🙂

Lots and lots of love!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Well Clare first you jet to France and come back smelling like Eurydice, then to America where you come back smelling like a rainbow of dogs well pretty sure the Megastar knows she's missed two huge events and she is not amused.  Yup not amused at all!  Going to have to do something pretty special to get her out of her "Mardy" mood this time I think 😂😂😂.  You know the old saying...."paybacks are a b***h."  Those pictures of the Megastar are cracking me up here!

PS. Good job Elsie....stay focused

These are the most advanced games Nina Ottosson does, and we have them all (there are only four). If anyone can suggest any properly taxing games, then I would love to hear about them. Otherwise we're going have to start playing chess and frankly I don't fancy my chances. against these two. Meg is smart, but it's actually Elsie who is the brain game supremo. Motivation is a factor, of course, the Pie would solve Fermat's last Theorem for a piece of kibble.

I think you're all right. She's in a mood because she can smell the other dogs and she's going to need PROPER SPOILING to come round. I'll set my mind to it.

So Meg and I had a little chat and I asked her what was wrong. And she said could I please not go away again, and if I did then could I please at the very least not go stroking other dogs, except for Elsie if I really had to.

Meg and I had a little chat, and I asked her what was wrong.

And I agreed that I wouldn't leave her again, or certainly not for a very long time. And then she said she was sorry for being mardy except she couldn't help it. So I told her that I understood, and sometimes I was mardy too, and I told her I loved her and she gave me a kiss, and now we're friends again.

My very first cat acted like that whenever I travelled.   He generally travelled with me in a kitty carrier under the seat in front of me, so on those rare trips when I went alone, he would ignore me and intentionally kick litter out of his box for a couple of days after I returned, just to make sure I knew how he felt.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

I just love the way you and Meg came to an agreement by working through the issues!  Sigh.....now if the rest of the world..........

Betting the "Pie" is glad she's on the "exemption" list for Mum pets and cuddles too.  Proud of you Miss Meg.......sharing your Mum is always a good thing!  And peace and harmony are restored.............at least for now lol.

"Mardy" is a new one for me too and I love it! Thanks for the lingo.

I'm SURE she's mardy because of the doggie smells you brought home on all your clothing. I wonder what will happen when every piece you wore gets laundered? Will she forget the whole thing? Hmmm..

P.S. We love those Nina Ottoson games too!

Oh happy day!!! 🙂 All is well with the Meg A Star!! 🙂

Yeah Linda, if...the...rest...of the...world...could only....

Such sweet photos of youu and Meg.

Whatever you do though, you better not let Meg see the pictures of you and Frankie cuddling at the pawty. "Mardy"'is mild compared to what might happen! 🙂
