We've finally completed the move to Philly and are in a new apartment. We moved from a place that was largely carpeted and had floor-to-ceiling windows Jack could look out of, to one which had neither of those things. Since she hasn't been able to walk well lately, I had to get creative when setting up the apartment and thought you all might like to see!

Below you can see a strategy I like to call 'rug-layering' 😉 Between the area rugs, I put whatever runners I could find. Jack, of course, prefers to lay on the one patch of hardwood left. I also got rid of my bedframe because it was too hard to teach her not to jump off of it.

The bottom image is the perch my brother built for her and her stairs, so she can still look out of the window while we're gone during the day. We're on the fifth floor and I love being able to see her face peeking out of the window when I come home in the evening.

AWE... that's so cute and creative! And I love how she sits on the ONE patch that isn't carpeted... Shelby was like that too.... long before her amp when she was just a frisky dog, I would ask her to sit and stay on a rug and she would put ONE paw as if to let me know who was really alpha! LOL

Anyways... Jack looks amazing and so comfy in her spot!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Now THAT is Tripawd-proofing a home, I love it! Thank you for sharing your great ideas, Jack's a lucky pup to have you for a parent.

Awww..the perch is perfect!  Murphy loves the hard floor too.  His favorite places to sleep are under the kitchen table, by the garage door, by the front door or in the bathroom.  The whole rest of the house is carpeted lol.

This just warms my heart! Jack, you are a very loved pup!!

You have the coolest doggy home in all the land! I LOVE that Jack has HER bed low enough now so she doesn't worry about having to "jump" up or down! No siree! One little step and she's on her bed!! There was a member here who cut off the wooden legs to her loveseat so her dog could still get up in the sofa!!

If at all possible, try and take a picture of her looking at the window waiting for you to come home...even if someone can tke it from the inside...or maybe even a video. That would be such a keepsake to out in her family album!

Keep on keeping on sweet Jack! We are all in love with you!!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I thought this was gonna be asking for advice but look how perfect you've done! It makes me so happy to see people go the length for their tripawds. I live in a hardwood home, so we've got some hideous rugs for the time being (I have a puppy still learning not to poop on the rugs) and i also got rid of my bedframe, AND my boxspring actually cos it was still too high for E.

That perch is really the extra mile, I LOVE it. That is so considerate of you to make sure that he can still see! And it looks so warm and comfy I bet he likes having his own little perch so high even better than floor to ceiling windows 😉

I really love this.
