Glad to hear CharlieBear is home and doing so well!👏🏻🎉 Im sure he is more comfortable without those Lipomas!

EmmaRose, is a tough cookie;) Sending pawsitive thoughts your way for next week! You have your hands full! ugh

I'm late reading your post but here are some links on cones, you read about on the site. Depending on where your at,  Amazon might be able to get these to you in time! Check it out? They are pretty amazing on delivering. I can't help you on size lol:) We did not use cone on Purrkins. Depending on where you are trying to prevent EmmaRose to reach? T-shirts can be used too. Alot of people have used t-shirts on here. Thats all the help I can be since we are kitties😻

Purrkins, you are absolutely the best! Thank you for your generosity, insight, and help! They want Emma to wear one but it would literally make her 100% anxious which is the last thing we want. It is for her not pulling her catheter out at night when she is home and I am somewhat sleeping. She has to have the catheter in for 5 days. So...I am going for wrapping her leg rather than a cone. I mean, she has a brain tumor...and a compromised left side of her face. So would rather risk the catheter than her not being able to be comfortable in her ability to see and hear and be prepard before actions happen around or to her.

Again, thank you all, and give Purrkins a huge bunch of head bumps and naps in the sun and tuna and kisses on the tummy from all of us!

First, WELCOME HOME CHARLIEBEAR!! Glad you had such a grrrreat looooong snooze in your truck! So glad you're home and back on the road to recovery.

And sweet EmmaRose, we all have our paws crossed for some more great extended time for lots of spoiling and loving, and then more of each!!

Does EmmaRose have to stay st the Vet those five days? Is she put under anesthesia for each treatment?

Yeah, you clearly know EmmaRose so well and it sounds like a cone would really freak her out. Hope you can figure out an alternative way to keep that catheter in.

You've had your share of challenges these many weeks. Be sure and take some time for yourself!!

Hugs

Thank you Sally!

The resident insisted Emma needed to stay in hospital for 5 days but the head of neuro said absolutely not ( thank you!!! and, duh...) so our schedule will be: wake up and take meds at 5, leave at 6 and drop off at 7 and pick up at 5 and get home at 6 and hope Emma eats between 7-11 at home. 5 days of aneasthesia but each day should be shorter and more manageable and, if need be, reversible. Love my Emma and am trying to be completely chill so she can continue to teach me to Be More Dog 🙂 She is Elizabeth Taylor and Miss Piggy and Marlene Dietrich rolled into one:) And Betty White:) In other words, she is something else:) I am going to wrap her catheter in vet wrap and a cloth wrap and go from there. At this age, Emma can do whatever the hell she wants to and WE need to work around that:)

DaBears update:

EmmaRose has stared down stereotactic radiation round two (out of five) and is ready to E A T:) Ssssshhhhh...she is home in her house in her pasture with Da Bear.

CharlieBear is sooooooooooooooooo beyond himself that Emma gets to come home each night he is practically breaking his tail with all the wagging he does. Went down in the tramadol post week one surgery which allows him to stay up kater and woofle more all night long...

Thank you all for your continued healing thoughts and love. It really does mean the world to us. Semper EmmaRose and CharlieBear!

( Oh, and the vet tech did mispeak. Emma sedated with butorphanol NOT buprenorphine! No meowing for Miss EmmaPaws!!!)

EmmaRose completed her last session of stereotactic radiation last night!!! Unfortunately, the Vet School lost power due to neighboring construction so machines lost their ability to function for awhile which meant she was not induced until after 6. When neuro called to let me know that she likely would not be treated but would need to come back Monday, I said but I told Emma on the ride in today it would be her last day of treatment. Neuro's extremely witty reply was " Well, this is what Emma heard. WAA WAAA WA WA WA WAAAA EMMA! Waaaa wa wa wa wa waaaaaa Emma!" ( Insert voice of Charlie Brown's teacher here). OMD I snort laughed! Good one neuro!!! Luckily, the radiation oncology team decided to stay late and finish her treatment after all. Emma also had to have minor eye surgery ( because, hey, why not...) as after her first treatment on Monday a tiny eye mass spontaneously appeared on the good eyelid. So....

EmmaRose and CharlieBear are once again reunited, snorfling their F U D, woofling, breaking ice in the water buckets, looking for more F U D, and, in general, being DA BEARS again. I just have one word...WHEW!

I am so glad for homecomings and end to current treatments and surgeries for Da Bears!  Welcome home CharlieBear and EmmaRose.

Lisa, Minneapolis

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Emma Rose OMD eye surgery too.
Sharing a  tip ,our family has learned in the past year-  NOT to say “why not” anymore.
Seems like more negative happens when we do, We all made a promise not to say that anymore . Expect good and not the bad. Try it just & see;) You will still think why not dont say it and then change the thought 😉

I assume generators wouldn't power the radiation. Glad they stayed for her and your were able to keep your promise to EmmaRose.

EmmaRose and CharlieBear are home in the pasture again Yeah👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎊!!

So glad to hear they are DA BEARS happy to be home and on duty😍

Whew ,now you can breathe!

DABEARS heal well!
Hugs!
