So, it's been six months, and Meg and I have abided by the will of the Tripawds Nation, as expressed in The Bloomers Referendum of December 2016.

I just thought you might like to see how this is working in practice.

Before walk:

After walk:

I am a great believer in re-running referendums.

Just saying.

Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, 23 November 2023, adopted 12 January 2024.

Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...

I have always been on the side of clip the bloomers. . .can't imagine that jumping up into bed to cuddle.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Well this year unfortunately (sorry Meg) I find myself switching sides on this important debate.  I believe I must cast my vote on the side of clipping the bloomers.  My reasoning is as follows:

1.  As Meg is another year older and her bloomers are impressive and swimming is her most fun activity in the world to do and wet bloomers have to weigh her down I do think for less wear and tear on her joints the bloomers must go.

2.  Meg with the bloomers gone you will be swifter than ever in the water.  You'll just be a red streak of lightning retrieving that ball in the water.  Can you even imagine the photo opps this will give Mum to post here of your Megastar self?

3.  Combouts will be a breeze.  No more tugs and pulls (owchie) on that most sensitive area and you remain your beautiful self!

They say clothes don't make the man.  Well the bloomers don't make the Megastar either!  You're always going to be our beautiful Megastar with or without those weight you down bloomers.  Love you sweet girl!  And Elsie Pie and Mum too!

I was always on the short shorts side.

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Icould not wait to get to this post! I saw it coming up and starting laughing before I even read the first word!!! 🙂 'And then I read and saw the pictures!!! :-):-):-) OMD!! Too funny!! :-):-)

Okay Meg! NO WORRIES!!!! This is clearly a photo-shopped edited photo and I'm not vuying it for one second!! :-):-)

While Linda has given somewhat of a logical argument as to why these must go, it was based on a doctored up photo!

And even IF that's what your vloomers look like after a walk, Christine's observation about sleeping with you...yep, unfounded! A couple of sprays with Fabreeze on your bloomers...a bit of vug spray on them just in case...a hair net and pajama bottomes and you're good to go!! 🙂

Unfortunately I can't post a picture circling the obvious doctored up discrepancies to point them out because of scumbag photofubucket! Envision a**hole emjo here!

So Meg, until I have irrefutable evidence that the picture is actually your behind...nah....not buying it! Perhaps an actual video of you strolling along, and then going for a swim (with video filming non-stop) and then maybe the "after" video would be more convincing! Maybe not convincing enough though!

So my vote for vloomers stands!!!! KEEP THE BLOOMERS!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Thanks, everyone for your invaluable input. Linda you made the case perfectly (and made me howl, to boot). Sally, I fear you are seriously outnumbered, and accusing me of faking the photos... well that really is clutching at straws...

But *sigh* here is the proof, as requested. I don't want there to be quibbling after the election. I don't want any allegations of fraud. I know how these things can bad feeling, cause lasting divisions, long after the bloomers themselves have passed into history ✂️

Polls close at midnight tonight, and, in the interests of equal access to all, we'll make that PST.

As things stand the votes are as follows:

Bloomers to Go: 85.7%

Bloomers to Stay: 14.3%

Well done Clare! Linda had a great argument. Others sympathized and Sally, well.... her dogs don't have bloomers so she lacks experience.

I chose not to weigh in this time because of international relationships. Mona did ask me to please trim her bloomers if they ever looked like Meg's. She thinks the bloomers, along with the tail hair, need to be cut straight across like a weeping willow tree.

I love the forest where you walk with the dogs. It looks very peaceful and is obviously fun for the dogs.

Hugs for all.

Anxious to get Sally's feedback of this obviously undoctored video that backs up the pictures!  Meg this video of your beautiful self is unfortunately I fear not going to win you any new votes.  And Meg take into consideration that the best athletes out there always wear close to the body clothing so as to not have any air resistance. And you my dear are a full out athlete!   I'm telling you those bloomers are only slowing you down!  Short and sassy is in!  My vote stands as first posted!

Thanks Kerren. Mona is such an immaculate cat. Invariably beautifully groomed and prsesented. Now we know why. She attends to the basics, thinks ahead and has s fallback plan. Linda, you are absolutely right about sports clothing. That's how the Megsstar should be thinking. Aerodynamics, wind resistance..

Just four hours now until the polls close

You have me cracking up! laughing

Meg, so sorry, baby, but Cassie likes her bloomers trimmed up a bit.  It does keep things so much cleaner down there aw-shucks When the vet had her on activity restrictions, it was getting a bit out of control, but all is well again now.

CLAAAAAAAARRRRRRRE!!!!! LLLLLLLMMMMMMAAAAAAOOOOOOO 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 MY STOMACH HURTS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN LAUGHING SO HARD WITH LAUGHING TEARS JUST STREAMING!! 🙂 🙂

MEG!!! YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN GIRL!!! I love how you stake things out while you're thinking things over and plotting a plan on exactly how and when you will barrel down the "cliff" and swim in the mud!! 🙂 I can almost see you shiver with excitement knowing you and your VLOOMERS will be ONE WITH THE MUD once you take the leap! 🙂 🙂 The exhilaration must beyond anything we humans can imagine (although meeting your Mum at the Va Pawty was pretty darn exhilarating)! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Now, down to business. We'll never know for certain if the original still photos on this post of the "before and after" were authentic or fake!! I shall concede, however, that the video does apprear to be unedited and free of altering. It appears ro be quite authentic and it would be hard even for me to dispute that! 🙂

My area of concern, however, was when Meg was quite hesitant to let you film her bloomers...her beloved vloomers. Could it be that she feared the video would, indeed, support your desire....your...er...."desire" to trim her butt bloomers! Meg clearly was trying to keep her rear end out of the camera frame, but to no avail! To me, that added tonthe authenticity of the video 🙂

Yes dear Meg, the votes were already cast awhile back! You and your bloomers won! You even won in the DOGTORAL COLLEGE!! This "new news" about your bloomers and a call for another vote certaw appears riged!! Everyone knew what they were voting for when they voted to keep your bloomers!

Okay, okay, I'm not gonna rehash the election to keep your bloomers. The video.....those darn undercover videos, .make it hard to deny the emotional toll muddy, bug infested bloomers could have on your Mom over time. Even MONA isn't supporting your bloomers!! MONA!!

And Linda did have a point about you being able to swim and wallow more freely without your bloomers.

Meg, maybe there is room for negotiating.....a win/win.....you could keep your bloomer on your right butt cheek, and trim the one on your left butt cheek 🙂

Then again, I do see your Mum's point because of that "hidden" video....quite emotional seeing the reality of what shesw been sleeping with.

Then again, I do believe in bloomers and admire your commitment to them.

So my dear Meg what I'm trying to say is.....my vote now is....yikes...my internet connection is fading...fading.........fadi........fa...

Job done. And you know what, she was actually really good about it. I mean, I obviously had to do it with her lying on her back, but that's just par for the course. She didn't wriggle, or get up half way through and go and hide in one of her dens, she didn't give me stink-eye, she lay on her back and watched me lovingly all the while (well that's how I'm choosing to read the look). Could it be that having allowed things to go to extremes, she now appreciates having them gone? Or that she recognises that the democratic will of the Tripawds nation is greater than the will of one dog, even a MegaStar? Or could it be the dried duck treats I kept posting into her open mouth? It's hard to know for sure. What I do know is that the dog I brought home all those years ago would NEVER have allowed me near her rear end, neither then nor for a good while after, and moments like this are a measure of just how far we've come, and that makes me sooooo happy.

Thanks everyone for joining in the fun, and Sally for having the grace to (almost) concede...

Meg, Clare and Elsie Pie xxx

PS They will look a lot better in a few days time. I'm not much of a hair stylist I'm afraid, but they even up remarkably quickly...

OH MEG!!! YOUR BUM LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 REALLY MEG, IT DOES!!! Getting all that weight off actually revealed some very pretty natural wave 🙂 Your Mum did a respectable job!

Okay Meg, I must admit, I'm relieved my connection "faded; last night right before the voting polls closed. Ya' see Meg, that video was just too convincing! It was real Meg! No sign of Russian interference! It was not fake! It was distributingly real!

Meg, I would have voted to clip the heck out of those bloomers 🙂 🙂 🙂 To hear how stoic you were during the process just warms my heart! It lets all of us know that, even you, knew it was a good idea! Clearly the duck helped!:-) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

What was Elsie Pie doing during all this??? Did she get any duck without having to "earn" it? Maybe there's a picture somewhere showing us how she handled all this potential trauma!!!!

Oh Meg! I almost forgot! I was lurkking on faceboogerk and saw that picture of you standing so proud up on the wall! if I recall, your mom tore down a shed one time because she found you standing up on the roof of it! I have a feeling the wall will be torn down very soon!

Meg, you always brighten our day!! THANK YOU! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Looooooove always!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
