His X-rays look good. No bone lesions, which was my biggest fear. More surprising was that for almost 13, he is not as arthritic as we thought. A bit in his spine and a bit in his elbow. My vet did say though, that they can be painful before it shows up on film. He actually has put him on Doxycycline. He is vaccinated for Lyme, but there are so many tick borne bugs out there.  He said that that can cause lameness. We also live in the woods. We are going to recheck in 2-3 weeks. Then, if he is still so ouchy, we are going to try some Metacam. He said that we would still use Adaquan since it is more preventative. Keeps the joints mobile. Also, a note on the " Pet Loader" a bit pricey, but he took to it right away! It is awesome! We got an SUV and I really had no idea how I was going to get any of them in and out.  They go back and forth to the Beach with us several time a Summer. My horse mounting block is too short and takes up too much room inside the vehicle.  We shall see how it goes with the other 2. So, if anyone is thinking or questioning getting one, I highly recommend!

Yay! Really happy to hear things are good, I like your vet's recommendations.

Yep, we love the Pet Loader too!

Cheers! Relax and breathe, it's not as bad as you thought. Enjoy your weekend!

Hey Lori,

I know its a month later but in answer to your question about the loading -- I just asked my vet about that since we were on backorder for a month as well and she said not to worry about re-loading and just start giving it again. Before we talked to her we were going to give it weekly for 2 weeks to make up for missing a month and then go back to every 2 weeks. Our vet said you can play with the frequency and that an injection anywhere from every 2 to 4 weeks is fine, it just depends on what works best for your dog.

Thank you!! My vet said the same thing. We just went back to regular dosage. We were only about a week late. I was the " crazy lady" who kept bugging them till they got me a bottle. Hopefully, till we need another, things will be moving smoother. Maybe I should try getting some more now. The bottle I did get expires in October.
