Okay....one more quote that Is sooooop authentic for the essence of our tripawd souls!!!

YikesLori! And all this streted because Daryl had a limp....guess "it" served its purpose and went away! That Daryl is quite a Sage for such a young pup!

The Velveteen Rabbit Quotes (showing 1-16 of 16)
“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

Well, I may have spoke too soon. He HS laid around all evening. Very lethargic . I gave him 1 Gabapentin that I dumped some out of 12 hous ago so I do not think that is it.My poor husband is a mess. He says it is like TY laying there. He said I bet they took his leg for cancer and did not tell us. I don't know what to do. This is not what I planned, I cannot lose another pup. I did reassure the hubby that I had papers that said injury. He was sitting and being petted and just fell over. Right now he is sleeping at the bottom of my bed and not whining, so We will see what tomorrow brings. Funny how much I love the little guy in2 months.
Elizabeth I love the kisses to the sky for TY . Perfect!!

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Lori I don't have experience with Ehrlichia but from what I read I think it i can cause him to feel pretty lousy.

Lori,

I was catching up and was happy to see that there wasn't a serious injury going on but now I'm bummed because little Daryl is back to not feeling to good...sad

I know when we were meeting with the 2nd surgeon about Leland's knee he ran a battery of tests checking for different tick borne illnesses.  I want to say there was something like 4 different ones (including Lyme) but the general public only really hears about Lyme.  Leland didn't test positive for any of them so I really didn't look further into the issues they can cause our furkids.  Like Elizabeth said this may have a lot to do with how crappy Daryl is feeling.

Try not to worry to much (I know easier said than done) and see if the medicine for the Ehrlichia starts showing improvements in Daryl.

Hang in there...I'm sure Daryl isn't going anywhere because Ty worked really hard to find this little guy to bring some smiles back to your family.

Hugs!

Yeah. have had dogs with Ehrlichia too and it does make them feel rotten.

And please tell your hubby The adoption people would NOT have lied on their paperwork for Daryl

This does not equal "that". "This" is some little bump that really sounds tick related.

I Know it's worrisome to say the least but, as Sahana said, Ty is the one who brought Daryl to you and Ty does NOT mess up when it comes to something like a Daryl!

Keep us posted
We love you,!

I'm praying for you guys...wishing for the best over here! Jaime had a few days after his surgery where he was in an extreme amount of pain and I know how hard it is to watch. He would just lay there and howl. It's hard knowing that there's just not that much you can do for them. Daryl sounds like a strong boy, and who knows...it may turn out to be something completely unthreatening! Peace had a few days where he would just not stop yelping...turned out he had sprained his shoulder! Daryl has the same name as my favorite character on Walking Dead...and that guy sure is a survivor! Here's hoping your Daryl shares a similar spirit as well :P

Still not himself todaysad We are picking up Tramadol today to get us through till Tuesday. We are doing a full back, hip, leg xray. Feeling sick to my stomach. Just feels so much like what we went through with TY. I have a tiny voice saying, what if, it might be you know.. My hubby said no more dogs ever. I cannot ever be without a dog. His blood work platelet count was normal, so the Erlichia did not damage the platelets. I also wanted to share a vision I have been having all day. Last Thanksgiving, my Hubby and I argued about where to put the turkey carcass. I said dumpster, he said, no way out in the woods. Into the woods went Mr. turkey. A few hours later, I go to let Ty in the front door and there he stands, proud as punch with the turkey remains in his mouth. His tail was wagging so much that his body shook back and forth. I swear he had a grin on his face .I can still hear his feet on the porch jumping around. This big, goofy Black Lab with an entire turkey carcass hanging out of his mouth. Now, he was in a good amount of pain, but that never stopped him when he wanted to accomplish something. I of course panicked afraid he had eaten turkey bones. Seems silly now, but that was before diagnosis. It is just so very hard for me to imagine that less than 5 months after that, he was gone. Just so hard. I really would like him back, but not in the pain he was in. it is just things like that that he did that made him one of a kind. I sure do miss his antics. I sure do miss my boy. Lori, Ty, Daryl, Chan & Lucy

Oh my gosh, I HAVE to share this!!!! I was scrolling back up after posting up to go look at other posts. All of the sudden, music started playing. There was a download circle on Ty's avatar picture going round and round. There was absolutely no reason for the music. It just played for like 30 seconds and then stopped. Well, I did say that I missed my boy's antics. Oh, and I found a dime on my car seat last night after Daryl and I came out of the vet office.

Oh Lori, God bless you, I just can't imagine going through what you're having to endure right now. I believe I would be bat-crap-crazy by now. You're handling this so well. And I know exactly what you mean about the "No more dogs," comment. It's something the hub-a-dub and myself are struggling with as well. He's had many, many dogs over the years, but Harmony was his heart-dog.

I know this sounds silly, but it works for me. A trick I use to put my mind to rest when I'm worrying is I think about what I might be doing this time next week, next month, next year.

Peace be with you my friend. Remember, "We create what we fear."

xoxo

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Hi Lori

I certainly hope that you have some answers about Daryl in his limp and his general malaise.  There is lyme disease in the area that Tuck and I live (Southern Ontario, Canada) but I have never heard of the other illness that you mentioned.

If it turns out to be that Daryl has injured himself (he is after all a rambunctious three-legged pup) - I would highly recommend some rehab for him.  Tuck has really done well since we started with the rehab vet - and most of the work is done at home :)

I love your stories about Ty - he certainly was a "one of a kind" character who will always live in your heart and who you share with us on Tripawds.

Hugs

Linda and Tucker

Good tactic Panm!!

Lori...OMD! That visual of Ty just so darn proud of himself...and I'm sure he was grinning....I know we all are!!! What a great, greatt treasured memory he conjured up for yoi!!!

Okay, is Ty eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, etc.? Is he still limping? I know when my Bodie wrenched his back (have no idea how or when), he all of the sudden just started acting kind of "distressed"....sort of like he was afraid to move...his movement was sort of guarded....lethargic....

Wonder if your vet would suggest some Prednisone until Tuesday! Jist guessing you have some in Ty's Pharmacy.

I know it's sooooo hard to NOT leap to "this equals that". Try to think back before Ty's diagnosis....the piece of crap disease would not even cross your mind now!

Did the foster people know what kind of accident Daryl had? It could be some residue from that...perhaps something that went n unnoticed in his initial exam. I knowI keep going back to a pinched nerve type issue or the tick disease. But the pinched nerve could explain whynhenfelt great at the vets and then rotten later..that is a pain that definitely comes and goes depending on the slightest movement.

This too shall pass Lori and hubby will get over the "not another dog" scenario...he will! Yeah, I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT A DOG!!!

And one more thing...important thing...TY IS DEFINITELY COMMUNICATING WITH YOU THAT ALL IS WELL WITH DARYL!!!!!! The music...the dime.....the music....the dime....the music....the timing of each "message"!! Ty will not let anything happen to Daryl!!!

Stay here...that worry wart bug can get crazy if you dont vent some!!

Love you...and the pack...and a few extra snuggles to Daryl for us!

I think most hubbies go through or say "we're never having another dog."  My hubby had made the same statements after we let Leland go.  But he jumped right on board when we started researching and looking for a breeder...under the pretense of course that it was to bring me some happiness...winker

I know hubby needed another pup just as much as I did and he was the one who picked Lucian (I was drawn to his brother...he seemed much more calm and quiet.  Not to mention his brother was a red and I really thought it would be best to have a color difference between Leland and the next pup.)  But Leland had other ideas in mind and told Lucian how to get our attention...which he did of course.  I know hubby grumbles about how attached Lucian is to him but I know Leland made sure Lucian built a strong bond with hubby because he really needed it after Leland.  Just like your hubby's strong attachment to Daryl I think our Angels knew how much the guys were hurting so they sent these pups to help with the pain.  You and I have this community but if your hubby is anything like mine there really wasn't much of an outlet for the pain like we have.

Just know that your hubby is speaking from a place of fear right now for Daryl.  I truly believe Daryl will get through whatever ailment he has going on right now and will be back to his spunky self.  All furkids are going to feel crappy at some point either because they are sick or injured something...just like people do.  There's been times I've thrown out my back and it hurts like the devil.  I come down with these crappy colds that usually turns into bronchitis but I do get better.  Daryl too will get better....Ty did way to much work to bring Daryl to your family to turn around for him to cross over to the Bridge.  So you need to snap hubby out of this thinking that Daryl is so sick that he's leaving your family already.

Ok that's enough of trying to help you with the hubby...I'm starting to sound way to "preachy"...winker

I LOVED the memory you've been having of Ty with the turkey carcas.  I have no doubt he was one very proud boy with his find!!!

Sending you, hubby, and little Daryl a warm hug!

Sahana...NOT preachy at all....HELPFUL....very, very helpful!!

That's an EXCELLENT point about your hubbies not having the benefit of being able to "share grief" and reach out for support and comfort through this community. Hopefully, they "sneak a peak" every now and then and they find something that helps lessen their pain.

Thanks Sahana!clap
