Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Awwww....the definition of cuteness right here. Riley took THE most adorable pictures.

There is a soft twinkle in her eye in this picture...this bittersweet picture. She looks content...she looks at peace. She knows she is loved and she shows no fear whatsoever. She knows she's returning home...healthy, vibrant and full of mischief! All the Alumni were there to meet her! I wrote on Riley's other post about all the welcoming ceremonies involving lots of good food! Nope, she's nkt settling for kibble anymore! She's got steak and macaroni and cheese. And, if course, ice cream!

This is just so heartbreaking for the humans left behind. We all want to take your pain away, but we can't. We can only walk by your side and help hold younup when you fall..

You can reach out to us in the Tripawds Helpline anytime. 1 844 TRIPAWDS. We understand as well as anyone can. We know the void and the broken heart.

As hard as it is right now, try and force yourself to think of that happy Riley being carried around in her backpack loke a Princess! Those photos always made me smile...actually they made me chuckle out loud! Riley LOVED her life! She wants you to remember that!

What were some of the little "nicknames" you called her? What made her wag that little furry tail of hers the most? She likes it when you think of those special times.

Thank you for being here when you can. You and Riley are important to this community.

Surrounding you with Riley's eternal grace...and cuteness!

So sorry for your loss.  We are never prepared to let our fur babies go, even though rationally we know it's the right time.  Take time to grieve but keep the good memories present in your heart and mind, because that is how Riley wants to be remembered.

hugs from Daniela & Johnnie

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

Well, it's been two weeks now and we are still missing our sweet girl. The girls seem to have stopped mourning Riley. We picked up her clay paw print and her death certificate. We love and miss her but know that we did the best we could for her.

Riley was our little fire girl. She was ten pounds of pure fire and attitude. Stubborn. You wouldn't believe that such a small dog would have a huge personality. Everyone e who met Riley loved her. She loved kids, calmly licking their faces even as they pulled her ears or tail. Our pizza delivery guy would regularly ask about Riley as she always had a lot to say. She wasn't impressed by the US-Canadian border patrol and she let them know.

You absolutely did the best you could for her. A part of your heart will always ache for her, that never goes away. But her spirit and all the good times will keep you strong and smiling when you think of her and those adorable memories. {{{hugs}}}}

Thank you for letting us hear from you...and sharing more little tidbits about Riley.

I know your emotions are still raw and your void is still heavy. The grief will stay with you...but it does eventually get pushed further into the background by all the wonderfully happy .memories you shared. Promise.

You did indeed do EVERYTHING possible for your girl! She knows how much you loved her! She'll always haver her love with her and you'll always have her llve with you.

Has she sent you any messages yet? Be open...she will. There will be no mistaking that they are from her. Hmmmm....she may already have another dog picked out for you!winker

I love hearing about what a little "fire girl" she is! An to be quit a talker on top of that.
She sure coukd pack alot of attitude in those 10 lbs. of hers!

Riley touched us all No way one could not be touched by that cutie pie!

Thank you for staying connected. I know that little clay pawprint will nave a special place in your home.
When you can, we would love to see more pictures of "fire girl" Riley and her pack! She's our family. We miss her too.

It's been over 3 months now since we said good-bye to our Riley. We miss her every day still. We have made some huge changes and it feels weird to be embarking on a huge adventure without our fire girl.

This is a video of Miss Riley two days before she left us- having breakfast at Chick-Fil-A (not normal for our dogs but we already knew that she wasn't with us but another couple weeks so we spoiled her)

and here's Miss Riley trying to get Lily to play with her:

Thank you for your kind words. As far as nicknames- she had a ton. Bee, Kay (her middle name) in various forms, fire, puppy, Bee Butt extradionaire, and on and on. Riley was a happy pup, she loved to run (pre-injury) and cuddle. She was a crazy picky eater, she would even turn down human food at times if "she wasn't in the mood" for it.

When we came back from Canada, the border patrol agent opened the door where she was sleeping and she sat up and told him off. He laughed and was like "I guess she told me" and closed the door clap

Everytime we went to the dog park, we had to do what we called the "walk of shame." This was the long walk from the car to the small dog entrance. The whole time you walked Riley would be yipping and barking, walking on her back legs hitting you in the rear with her front feet because she was so excited to go and couldn't get in there fast enough.

People regularly said that she looked like a fox. And she loved little girls. Like she'd try to take off her harness to go see any little girls within her hearing distance!

Awww Kelly, I'm sooo glad you posted here and shared some wonderful memories of ADORABLE Rileu.. We've all been thinking about you and we all understand how rough this part of the journey is.

I have to rely on my computer genius friends here to post Rikey's videos here for me as I'm not on facebooker. I cannot wait to see them. Just the "still" of her digging into her chicken has me smiling.

I LOVE the visuals you painted of her...especially trying to hurry up and get to the park as fast as she could!

Riley Kay had sooo much fun during her earth time here with you. Always remember that because that is exactly what she wants you to remember.

I'm going to come back later when I can see the videos and write more.

I just wanted to send you some love and some hugs! You ARE family and this is a wonderful thread that Bonnie started for us to all share and stay connected just like you have today.

Wrapping you up in Riley's kisses!
