Thank you all... yes, her daycare can send me photos and I can call them (daily - as much as I want) and they know I will. This is one of those "LA" daycares and LA people tend to be a little nutty about their dogs (vegan, paleo, gluten free, organic diets) so they told me that Jasper can have her baby carrots, green beans and pumpkin. They said they even have to "cook" some dog's meals. Jasper gets 2 meals a day - kibble with veggies so she can have that there too.

One of Jasper's best qualities is her adaptability. I was thinking on our walk tonight. She just "goes with the flow". Like when we go to Seattle, she walks into my mom's house and picks up like she never left. Same in hotel rooms (albeit with some barkies). Basically she can just adapt. Will she miss me? Probably. Will she be sad? Maybe at first. Will she have fun and snuggle the workers there? Heck yeah!!!

I know it will be harder on ME than on her but boy oh boy... I will count the days till we are together again and until then... all the rest of the hours this week will be spent cuddling with Jasper (when she is able to put away the ball).

That is the only thing she will definitely miss - her toys. No toys allowed at daycare so no fetch or antlers.... but I'll buy her new toys to celebrate her coming back!

PS - I feel like it's worth mentioning the massive amount of coins, pennies and dimes, I have seen lately. I believe this is Shelby sending me energy to let me know ALL will be fine. She did that last time I had to travel w/out Jasper!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

YES!! Shelby is DEFINITELY letting you know she's watching over you both!

It sounds like your daycare really is a good one. And clearly Jasper Lily loves it.

Obviously other dogs stay overnight on occasion too? Even though she can't have her own tous, can she have her own bed and a blanket or something with your scent on it'

Jasper really is a "go with the flow" gal. She loves going with you on little mini vacays, just as much as you enjoy it!

Hiw about that "skyp" thing? Can you do that?

I'm glad you were able to make the trip. I totally understand! When I went to visit my sister in May, and then the Tripawd get together in September, it was the hardest thing ever. And my dogs were home with their dad! (I made him take off work both times I went away). Enjoy your time in Texas, check in with Jasper as much as you need, you'll be back with her before you know it.

You are so sweet to check in!!! As those who are friends with me on FB know, I got a photo from daycare yesterday of little Jasper Lily in her new role as receptionist. Now you'll see, most dogs stay, hang in the back and the daycare sent me a photo of Jasper at the front desk.

Piece of mind is EVERYTHING and I just called to check and she is doing great - playing with the BIG dogs (which is HUGE for her) and getting so excited to see the male workers there (she recognizes and loves them). She is doing great. She is being bold. She is happy.

And I only have 5 more sleeps till I get to see her again!!!

It's been a good experience so far but I definitely miss my little sidekick but 48 hours into this trip, I am feeling better about things. I am also exhausted from work stuff too so when I am on my phone and having more freedom, I might feel different but cautiously optimistic!

REUNITED!!!!! She had NO desire to cuddle but wanted to play hours upon hours of fetch since she had no toys for a week. I happily obliged!

And then we had the epic crash and cuddles for hours ... she had to be touching me the rest of Sat night and most of yesterday. All is right in my world. I had no clue my heart would heal to the point that I would miss and love another dog with such passion~! (and you'll see in the background is the Shelby wall and she watches over us all the time.

I would love to say I am never leaving her again but I know I am strong enough to do so. And every time something dark popped in my mind, I used Pam's suggestion of a "Stop Sign" and told myself to stop.

It wasn't easy but it was a big step for me ... and Jasper indeed had a BLAST! They said they have never seen her come out of her shell as much. She was very happy but also very happy and surprised to see me too. heart

Thanks all for the support, the suggestions and the confidence in me!

The best kind of separation - where you both have a good time and then fall right back in together!!  Very happy it worked out for your both!

Leaving Gator to board for the first time this weekend.  Originally, I was anxious, but since the old fence came down yesterday, all I can think is that hopefully the new one will be finished by the time he gets home!

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.
