Jasper Lily - the Uni-bomber!

She really, really hates live music (and honestly, so did the rest of us) but once the movie started, she was pretty chill. We discovered she likes to chew on plastic bottles... she eats everything on the ground and it's quite possible she had some kettle corn tonight... she knows her way around the park and knows where to find the treats ... and every thinks my little Aussie Kelpie mix is just adorable!

I am so proud of how well Jasper does in social settings... it's like Shelby is sending her signals that life CAN and IS so much more fun when you relax and take it all in. I think next weekend, we will attempt a lunch date together. We still haven't quite mastered that "boundaries" issue w/food (she licked my french fries tonight when I set the food down) BUT I think (hope) we can grab a meal!

It was important to me to get a dog that was social, easy going and one that I could take places and I was concerned about Jasper at first but she's coming out of her shell more and more each day... Thank you Shelby Lynne... you sent me a good one! XO

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

OH my DOG too cute. She looks like she can't decide if she hates it or wants to just relax and chill. Little by little though, she IS getting there! How cool to be able to watch her progress, thanks.

I can't believe she will keep a hood on!! She is so cute! Tanner is the same way with food. Was Jasper a stray at one time? I know most dogs will devour anything we let them, but I think the once-homeless pups take it to a new level. They are serious scroungers. Maybe eventually it calms down, who knows. If I drop a lettuce leaf on the floor Tanner is all over it (seriously, what dog eats lettuce??). Tanner also loves to chew on water bottles (just ask Merry Myrtle, he kept stealing hers ha!).

I am just beyond happy for you and little Jasper. Things are just getting better and better......

Yay.  I love that hood and the fact that she is so relaxed (even if she hated the live music).  Jasper will get the food boundaries just have to keep working with her.  Can't wait to see what is up in the future for the two of you.  Thanks to Shelby for sending you a great dog.

Jasper you look AWESOME!!  I love the hood.  It's such a pleasure to see her confidence grow and how much you two are enjoying each other.  My Leland and now Lucian both enjoy playing with plastic bottles.  I don't know if it's the noise or the feeling of chewing on it but they both would play FOREVER with bottles.  Think of all the money we could save on buying cute doggie toys.

Keep up the good work Jasper...you rock!!!

Jasper....we just knew you could do it! You are turning into the "perfect little lady". OK...maybe not perfect yet, but you sure are trying hard to get there.

Murphy loves those plastic bottles, too. He takes the lids off right away and then crackles the bottles. Gus can't stand it if there is a label on the bottle and goes to great lengths to take every bit of paper off before he will play with the bottle. We bought them both toys that have a Velcro belly for inserting a bottle. They love carrying those silly things around and crackling the bottles.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

So who knew about the plastic bottles?!? Shelby was always scared of those sounds ... Jasper thrives on it!

@ Elizabeth - that was my jacket that I just put over her head to muffle her ears a bit. But she will keep things on her head - ironically. She hates, seriously hates, if you touch that big bushy tail she has.

And I would agree - my last two pups (Shelby and Jasper Lily) were rescues and they were/are FAR more food motivated than the dogs I had growing up which were not rescue pets (sadly). Those dogs we could leave food out and they would grave. Jasper and Shelby both live for meal times ... and eat anything that falls on the floor. I think Jasper will get better. I still remember Shelby taking off w/a slice of pizza back in the day and the first week Jasper was here ...she devoured my burger when I got up to get a glass of wine.

Jasper was most likely a stray before she was in the hoarding house before she came to the rescue and then came to me!

Thank you everyone ... it's been truly rewarding and amazing watching her develop...she's definitely found a place in my heart!

I am not quite sure what I just didblush oh well, I wanted to see that cute little face peeking out of that jacket again anyway. Did you know that they make toys that have a plastic bottle inserted in them? As far as the food motivation goes, Lucy is sooo food addicted. She ate cantaloupe last night. If a stranger found her and fed her, he or she would think I starved Lucy, even an hour after mealtime. I am glad that Jasper is adjusting. I knew she would! I am anxious to hear how lunch goes next weekend. Love from, Lori and Ty

Alison,
It sure looks like Jasper is doing so beautifully in life. I like you, like to take my babes out and to be as social as possible. She just looks great. What a wonderful sense of peace you must be feeling with how well she's coming along. Shelby is smiling for sure.
