I had a cat, not tripawd, but he was having issues towards his end and was just going on the floor. I got a few dog cage liners and put puppy pee pads on them. He did much better. I am trying this with my micro, she is only a day post surgery of her back leg. She has used the regular litter box though very little and wet herself and her safe space carrier, thankful for anti icky-poo. Maybe try putting pads in litter boxes and see how that goes. A little less expensive then trying a whole new box of litter.
