Tripawd Tuesday Tribute: Chey the Hoppy Girl

Nothing says pure joy better than a smiling doggie. Today’s Tripawd Tuesday hero Cheyenne had a beautiful smile that lit up the sky.

Tripawd Tuesday Cheyenne

Cheyenne was a Siberian Husky mix who fought mast cell cancer like a warrior princess but earlier this year she earned her angel wings. Although she is truly missed, today the heavens are even brighter with her in it. We hope you enjoy her tale of courage as much as we do. Here it is as told by her mom, Jo Anne.

“Every single Sunday through the summer we would take her to the river where she’d swim sunbathing and eat goodies! She also used to go in the garden and pick her own corn cob, husk it and etc it! Same with squash, she would pick her own!

We did everything modern medicine wise (IV chemo and Palladia), and did our best with natural home therapy as well, like choosing a grain free diet. However Chey’s cancer was very aggressive and spreading microscopicly and was undetected on every test. No leasons, or tumors or suspicious looking things showed up on the ultra sounds or xrays, but she was becoming anemic. She became “down” the night of a blizzard, stopped eating and I had to give her water with a syringe. Once we dug and plowed out, we took her to the emergency room, we already had a feeling this was “it”. She passed on her own peacefully January 25, 2016.

We did not get her as a puppy, we took her in off the streets where I was working at the time in 2006. They estimated her to be about 3 or 4 years old. I’m just so glad for all the years we had with her, and that we were able to give her the life an animal deserves, full of love and fun. Every year since 2006 she was the star of our Christmas cards, including 2015, her last Christmas. We took her for her last four wheeler ride through our yard to her resting place. We told her she will always be with us and in our hearts.

To those who have lost loved ones, I’m so sorry, I know how heartbreaking it is, but we are all here for each other. Those of you going through this stressful disease, hang in there, and may the good days out number the bad. Remember, “it is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.”
