Each week on Tripawd Tuesday we honor the lives of our three-legged heroes who instinctively know how to teach humans get past adversity and live life to the fullest, even when time is short. Samson the Tripawd Kitty was one such teacher.
Diagnosed with a malignant tumor on his right rear leg that required amputation, Samson lost his leg but he never lost his spunk for living.
In January 2014, his Dad Oliver wrote to share his post-op recovery news:
In the meantime Samson keeps on truckin’! He pines to go outside and finally can now that the weather is somewhat mild. Here he is this past Sunday on his favourite perch:
Just weeks after losing his leg, veterinarians discovered Samson had a rare form of lymphoma. Last week we were saddened to hear that Samson became an angel just months after the diagnosis. Only a short time later, his best friend Cleo joined him. Oliver took the time to share the news here:
Samson hung on for almost two months after the bad news. His new tumour was manageable at first but just like the one on his back leg, grew progressively worse. Samson was a warrior to the end, never complaining (much) and enjoying our love and affection.
It’s a sad day when we get an update like this, but it’s also very touching that people will find the strength to come back and let us know what happened. Oliver’s kind words are proof that this community is so powerful during good times and sad.
Thank you to everyone in this community. Your help, well wishes and support were incredibly important during Samson’s recovery. I wish you all the best, to you and the pets in your lives.
