It’s Tripawd Tuesday and today we’re celebrating Shelby, a very special rescue dog who’s making a difference in the world! She’s been a Tripawds member for many years and we are proud to feature her story today. Her Dad Jack writes:
Shelby became a Social/Therapy dog, certified by Paws for Healing in Napa, CA., the American Kennel Club and Assistance Dogs International.
She’s visited Veteran’s at the VA Hospital in Martinez, CA. Men and women from World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
We’ll never forget the visits and the honor we felt, sitting, talking and listening to the very best that gave so much for our country.
Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa is now the focus of our Social/Therapy work. During the last four years we have visited hundreds of doctors, nurses, staff, patients, friends and families.
We are so blessed and fortunate that Shelby shares her life with us. She has brought joy, smiles, a few tears and comfort to scores of people from 18 months to 95 years old.
If not for her, we wouldn’t have met our wonderful TRIPAWD and Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary family and friends.
Let’s give 3-paws up to Shelby and her pawrents for all they do to make people smile!
