Tripawd Tuesday With Love from Happy Hannah

Today is Tripawd Tuesday and we’re celebrating the inspawrational story of Happy Hannah, a 123 pound, 8.5 year old Mastiff.

We bring her story to your attention because Hannah’s story is so full of hope. You wouldn’t know it based on when she first arrived at Tripawds, and her Mom posted this:

Was concerned she wouldn’t be able to walk after surgery, now I fear she may not recover from it.

Has anyone experienced where it looked like two/three days after surgery things were going fairly well and -boom–just didn’t,t want to get up and completely stopped drinking. ….Soooooo scared and cannot believe this is happening –should not have done thisβ€”at least not at this hospital.

Has anyone had similar situation and what was done to get back on to recovery. I can’t stand to see her let Suffer from this. Must pull her through and get her in good shape for successful chemo. Sorry to ramble. I respect and value everyone on this journey and thank you for helping me not feel so excruciatingly alone.

Sally and. My beloved Hannah

Read more in Sally’s first Tripawds forum post, “Six Days After Rear Leg Amp and Getting Worse-Very Scared Made Horrible Decision.”

Less than three months later, Sally writes:

Now, o e reason I think it’s good is probably a who.e lot of people who are facing the amputation decision go to that site……see it can be a rough start…..see all the great I formative support….and see how wonderfully well everything is conti using to turn out:-) :-):-):-) clap, clap, clap:-)

Congrats to Happy Hannah and Sally for overcoming adversity and showing everyone what’s possible!

If your vet ever tells you your animal is too young, old, big, small, whatever, for amputation, just remember Happy Hannah’s story and then get a second opinion.

  1. Hannah remains an inspiration to us ALL!!! her spirit will live on in all of us. I am so sad I never got to meet Hannah but I know that Hannah and my Shelby are the best of friends (BFFs) and that Hannah is showing Shelby that chocolate ice-cream is an acceptable dinner option!

Sally – you remain literally one of the kindest people I have ever had the opportunity to ‘know’ … I hope that one day our human lives will have the opportunity to cross and we can share chocolate (and wine) and stories about our fur-babies!!! Sending you lots of love and strength and hugs – always. I know how hard this is but you are doing great!

    With love for forever

  3. I have been told today my 10 year old bull mastiff has a bone tumour in his rear right leg they feel we have caught it early as he only started limping 2 weeks ago , they cant tell me if its cancerous and I came home from the vets feeling devastated,we have previously lost 2 mastiffs to tumours as they were caught too late and the vet suggested that tyson was a little old to consider amputation but it was an option, he is my baby and I hated the idea of just giving pain relief and doing nothing else…. this site has given me a whole new option and especially seeing Hannahs story , she is adorable and I wish her and you a long and happy life , thanks for posting on this site and sharing your story with others and helping me see things a little more clearly

And talk about invincible……YOU DEFINE THE WORD:-) πŸ™‚ A tripawd with a hip replacement (just to mention a few “challenges”).? No pup could make this stuf fup:-) πŸ™‚

And you, Kathi…..just as INVINCIBLE:-) πŸ™‚ YOUR dedication and determination to care for Murphy is truly heroic!! Not many would have the internal fortitude to stay the course and you and Murphy are finally able to reap the rewards—–and deservedly so:-) πŸ™‚

It’s not waiting for the storm to pass……it’s learning to dance in the rain:-)

I guess it’s inappropriate to see your own story put up (which was such a wonderful surprise) and reply how great it is—(but we tripawds never worry about being appropriate)…—and what an ADORAVLE picture of a dog whose light just illuminates my world:-) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ clap! clap! clap!!

    I’M BEAMING OVER HERE——JUST B E A M I N G:-) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ From ear to ear I’m a’ beaming and a’ grining:-) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

YES, IAM SOOOOOP GLAD FOR THE GAINED TIME WE ARE HAVING TOGETHER AMD I AM ABSOLUTELY ESTATIC WITH EVERY WAG OF THE TAIL AND EVERY SLOBBERING KISS WE SHARE

Thank you soooooooo much for acknowledging my Happy Hannah (eyes welling up yet again….but I love it when it’s tears of joy)! She, like ALL the tripawds here are SO. BRAVE, SO STRONG AND JUST SOOOOOO HAPPY TO BE ALIVE AND LOVED:-) πŸ™‚ AND LOVE GIVING LOVE RIGHT BACK:-) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

And it was at least probably TWO weeks that I questioned what the heck I was doing!!

Words of gratitude for everyone on this site are just not in the English language (I haven’t checked our Portuguese or French yet:-) πŸ™‚ ). I can NEVER express adequately what your support meant!

YOU TRANSFERRED YOUR COURAGE, YOUR WISDOM, YOUR STRENGTH TO ME THROUGH YOUR WORDS. YOU TOOK TIME FROM YOUR OWN CHALLENGES TO BE A LIFELINE TO A COMPLETE STRANGER AND HER DOG. I think I would have completely cracked up without your support and care….nah……I know I would have.

I want to honor EACH of you by trying to be here for others in some small way as you have for me.

So here’s a TUESDAY SHOUT-OUT to all the tripawd heroes past, present and future!!!
    STANDING OVATION TO YOU:-) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ clap! Clap! clap!
