Thanks for asking! Not doing the amputation would be selfish, as it is the only way to eliminate the pain and extend Jewel's quality of life. Here's our post answering the top ten canine cancer amputation questions we received in Jerry's blog.
Hello, I'm writing about my Great Dane Jewel. I was told she has cancer and her leg needs to be amputated. Jewel is 7 and I'm not sure if I should put her through this. Can someone please tell me what to expect. I feel as though i'm being selfish and I'm doing this for me not her. I have not heard any positve stories from people who have put their dogs through this surgery. Jewel does not seem to be in any pain or much pain at the moment. I have put her on pain medication. I want to know I'm making the right choice.
Thanks,
Patti and Kyle VanDale
